Acne Laser Treatment
Acne laser treatments are still new to dermatology, but are gaining wide acceptance as a viable option in treating acne problems. The way most lasers work is to damage the sebaceous glands with a thermal effect. The sebaceous gland is then diminished, thus reducing the production of oil with can clog pores and cause acne.
Laser resurfacing is a very popular form of acne laser treatment. Carbon dioxide (CO2) and erbium: YAG (Er: YAG) lasers are the most frequently used type of laser. They are designed to burn the top layer of the skin to a precise depth. This will then heal over with new skin that blends in more readily than scar tissue itself.
It should be noted that not all states distinguish who can and cannot perform laser procedures, so further investigation into each individual doctor is highly recommended.
