Back Acne

back acne

Back acne can result from many of the same factors as facial acne. The difference is, back acne is found in a spot that is covered and is therefore prone to sweat buildup and friction from clothing. In order to reduce the likelihood of back acne, certain steps can be considered.

  • Avoid cotton shirts that may be tight on the body. This will trap perspiration and oils which cause back acne. Try synthetic fabrics instead. They tend to keep sweat from concentrating on the skin.
  • Change out of sweat-drenched clothes right after exercise.
  • Wash the back as often as possible, especially after exercise. A loofah sponge or other gently abrasive scrubbing tools can remove dead skin cells which can cause pores to clog and thus cause back acne problems.
  • Use a cleanser designed especially for body acne. Zapzyt is an example of a product designed especially for body acne. Use only on infected areas.
  • Keep long hair clean. Long hair draped on the back can also trap oil and dead skin.
